Today was Homer's 48th birthday. (well 24th) During my break between lunch and dinner shifts, I found a text from Lisa asking... "When is Dad's birthday?" I replied right away, "today" and asked "Are you going to wish him a happy birthday?"

She said "yes"
At this point, she had already called her grandmother(whom she hadn't also spoken to since the incident in April, 2008) asking her Homer's phone number. She told her he was coming over so she would have him call Lisa.

So I waited for Lisa to get home after work. I didn't even eat dinner there tonight, I did a to-go order anxious to get home...

What an idiot this man is.

LISA, the child, took an initiative and called her father who hadn't even tried staying in touch with her. SHE remembered how he said in his email that she didn't even wish him a happy birthday.
Now she's on the phone, he goes on.. saying.. "Ohhh, I don't know. Maybe in time.. We will take a small step.." BULL SHIT.

His daughter asked for her father's phone number.. and he says, "You know how to get in touch with me"
"I only have your email address"
"You can email me, and see how it goes"

I know I never have a lot of good things to write on here.
I never say anything nice about this man... But I honestly don't have much of good things to say at this point.

"It wasn't even like talking to my dad.. it was like talking to some person... "

I told her
"You took an action. You called. Now you sit and wait ok?"
"Yeah I know"

I asked about her grandparents, and she is on a better term with them now, so that's good.
It's so hard to go on with your life with no other family you can turn to other than a brother and a mother.
I think it was extremely brave of her to have done this.
And I think it was unbelievably stupid of Homer to have done what he did.
